Gentleman’s Climate Café

Updated: Sep 5

Five people in a conference room meeting, engaged in discussion. Posters and blue water bottles on table, bright indoor setting.

We are thrilled to introduce The Gentleman’s Climate Café, which is a specialized space that comes from our traditional Climate Cafés, focusing on men's emotions about climate change. On June 26, 2025, the Wellness Impact Lab at the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research (DI) launched a pilot for the Gentleman's Climate Café—a small, welcoming gathering where students who identify as male explored their thoughts and emotions surrounding the climate crisis. Co-led by Sadra Toossi (DI Global Health Intern) and Dr. Harvey Skinner (DI Senior Fellow), the session brought honesty, vulnerability, and even joy. Conversations ranged from personal hopes to masculine identity, which created deeper reflections on masculinity in a time of climate crisis.

Through activities like the Climate Emotions Wheel, world mapping, and Climate Conversation Cards, participants found new ways to express themselves and connect with each other. Participants described the atmosphere as uplifting and real—proof that, given the right space, men are eager to show up with their stories, doubts, and hopes.

Following this successful pilot, future sessions are planned for this fall. Male-identifying individuals are welcome to join these sessions for more conversations about climate change in a welcoming and judgement-free zone.
